Dr. Richard Denniss is the Executive Director of the Australia Institute, a prominent Australian economist and public policy commentator.
His career has spanned two decades, with policy-focused roles in academia, federal
politics, and think-tanks. Known for his ability to translate complex economic ideas into
accessible language, he has served as a Lecturer in Economics at the University of
Newcastle and an Associate Professor at the Crawford School of Public Policy at ANU.
Dr. Denniss has also been a prolific author, recently publishing ‘Dead Centre: How Political Pragmatism is Killing Us’, a sharp critique of the political environment that prevents bold policy action on critical issues like the housing crisis.
